Argerich in Manchester

Martha Argerich has probably played in hundreds of cities during her long career, but she hasn't yet performed in Manchester.

In July she will make her début in the city with her friend Gábor Takács-Nagy and his Manchester Camerata, playing the Shostakovich Concerto for Piano and Trumpet. For this one-off event at the Manchester International Festival - during which acclaimed actor Kenneth Branagh makes a long-awaited return to Shakespeare in a sold-out production of Macbeth - French trumpeter David Guerrier will once again be sharing the stage with Argerich and Co.

  1. Hello Pyr,
Just wanted to point out that Martha will also perform in next November 8th-11th with Gábor Takács-Nagy and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. They will play a Liszt concerto (I guess it'll be the first one) in the Bela Bartok Natioan Concert Hall, Budapest. Though I didn't find any other support to the happening of the event, it's noted in Gábor Takács-Nagy's website: http://gabortakacsnagy.com/2013-2/

  2. I watched Martha in 1966 for the first time. An amazing pianist. I just wished, she would come to Canada
